5 looks from the People Magazine Awards winners’ circle

Dec. 18 marked the first ever People Magazine Awards Show, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The show was hosted by Nick Cannon and featured performances from Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5, Pharrell Williams and British boy band 5 Seconds of Summer.

Although several worthy celebrities were nominated for awards, only those deemed superior went home winners. Check out these looks from five of the female award winners.

1. Role Model – Kate Hudson
The actress was named People Magazine's Role Model of the Year. In an interview after the show, Hudson shared her personal role model – her mom, fellow actress Goldie Hawn. According to the interview by People Magazine, Hudson explained how her kids are also role models to her.

"I think you learn a lot from your kids – the purity and the innocence of how they attack things and how they communicate is inspirational," Hudson told People.

Kate Hudson was winning on the red carpet as well, as she strutted in a gorgeous floor-length gown. The one-shoulder beige dress had a tree-like print on it and was cinched around her waist. Hudson wore her blonde hair in loose curls and paired her dress with a shiny, gold clutch. On her wrists were a few bangle bracelets, including one that looked like this Sterling Silver Cuff with Blue Topaz and Diamond Accent.

2. Triple Threat – Jennifer Lopez
J.Lo really channeled herself from years past for this awards show with a nude-colored jumpsuit. The sparkly fabric clung to her torso yet fit looser around her legs – and who could ignore that plunging neckline? She wore tons of black eyeliner, nude lipstick and loose waves in her long hair. With pointy maroon nails, a beige clutch and several silver bracelets, Jennifer Lopez certainly had award-winning style.

3. Sexiest Woman of the Year – Kate Upton
It might not surprise you that model Kate Upton was awarded the title for sexiest woman of the year. She hit the red carpet in an all-black leather outfit, which consisted of a short-sleeved top, thick belt and pencil skirt. Black pumps rounded out the look and her hair was worn in a side part. With heavy, dark eyeliner and light pink lips, Upton was flawless. Check out the collection of silver bangles at Fine Jewelers to nail her style in your day-to-day  appearance.

4. Style Icon of the Year – Gwen Stefani
The former punk rocker became the first style icon of the year, as she's made regular television appearances as a judge for the competitive singing show, "The Voice". Stefani went with a black and white look for the People Magazine Award Show, from her pointy black pumps to the white polish on her nails. She wore white pants with a white dress and an interesting pearl-encrusted sweater that had large forearm cutouts. The top portion of her hair was pulled into a bun that rested on the crown of her head while the sides were left straight.

5. Movie Performance of the Year – Jennifer Aniston
Always a vision of timeless beauty, Jennifer Aniston took home an award for her performance in "Cake," a role for which she's also been nominated for an SAG and a Golden Globe, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The former "Friends" star wore a little black dress that was sleeveless and had a bit of white on the bottom. On her left hand, you could spot her giant diamond engagement ring from fiance Justin Theroux – the perfect accessory for any outfit.
