Once a year, an awards show comes around where the actual prizes don't matter. Although this is the case for many of the other programs, people are there to see interesting fashion choices from celebrities, potentially scandalous live performances and red carpet photo antics.
This year's MTV Video Music Awards aired Aug. 24 and brought a slew of killer performances from artists such as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Usher. Even more impressive was the array of styles that graced the arrival scene, from unique dresses to flashy jewelry.
While many celebs forgo necklaces to give more attention to their intricate gowns and hair styles, rings were a super popular accessory this year. From stars like Gwen Stefani, who boasted rings on nearly every finger, to Kim Kardashian, who is still showing off her rock from Kanye West, there was a vast mix of styles.
Stefani hit the red carpet in a hot pink and black getup and all black jewelry. Her fitted pink pants were adorned with black stripes down the sides, which complemented her top's black tank straps. With a wide variety of rings on each hand, the No Doubt front woman waved to fans and paparazzi. To dress your fingers up like the punk-pop queen, look at the selection of Onyx Rings at Fine Jewelers.
Katie Stevens, an actress and singer most well-known from MTV's "Faking It" and a recent season of "American Idol," wore a total of five rings with varying thicknesses and designs. On her left pinky, Stevens had a coiled snake ring, similar to the Original Star K Good Luck Snake Ring with Simulated Diamonds. A few thin rings similar to the Stackable Expressions Sterling Silver Black Enameled Ring took spots on the rest of her left hand while a larger black and silver ring gleamed from her right pointer finger. For that style, check out the Phillip Gavriel Agate Cocktail Ring Surrounded by White Sapphires. The rest of her look was delicate and sophisticated with a bridal feel. The white, long-sleeved lace dress fit her perfectly and featured a deep slit for the right amount of sexiness. Stevens parted her hair in the middle and pulled it back in a low ponytail.
Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland strutted down the red carpet, showing her baby bump off in an off-white gown. There was a hint of Greek goddess with this particular outfit, from the high necked and simple dress to her braided updo. To balance out the tame hairstyle, Rowland wore big, silver statement earrings. The shine of the earrings made her gleaming diamond bracelets stand out even more. If you want to ice out your wrists like this singer, try on a Sterling Silver Vintage Style Cubic Zirconia Bracelet.
Breakout female rapper Iggy Azalea hit the stage for a performance and even took home an award for her collaboration with Ariana Grande on "Problem." Although her image as an artist is a little rough around the edges, she was dressed in a sleek silver gown for the VMAs. With her long blonde hair slicked back, the most noticeable feature of her outfit was the chain of diamonds around her neck. Put the Cheryl M Sterling Silver Fancy Collar Necklace on your wish list if you want to bring a little bit of Iggy bling with you.
