Jennifer Hudson glows at the Power of Women luncheon

Variety's fifth annual Power of Women luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel drew an immensely impressive group of ladies, including Nicole Kidman, Maria Bello, Charlie Theron and Amy Poehler, but Jennifer Hudson is one star that stood out from the bunch. All eyes were definitely on the 32-year-old singer and actress, who sported a curve-hugging white Yigal Azrouel dress with Saint Laurent Paris pointy black gold-accented pumps. What were the finishing touches to an already jaw-dropping outfit? A glittering brooch and chunky white Samsung Galaxy Gear timepiece. The combination of the sporty watch and glam vintage-inspired pin was unexpected, but worked.

Hudson certainly proved that even if you're wearing a somewhat simple, monochromatic ensemble, your accessories can take things up a notch. Next time you're rocking a little white dress or a solid-color outfit and are looking to add some pizzazz, consider a statement watch from fine jewelers.

It's no wonder the diva was among the honored attendees – not only is she stylish, but she's also selfless. According to Just Jared, Hudson received the Samsung Galaxy Impact Award for her involvement with the Julian D. King Foundation, which is named for her deceased nephew and was founded to provide support for children of different backgrounds as well as encourage positive development.

According to The Associated Press, Hudson became quite emotional while accepting the award. She is a longtime advocate of philanthropic work.

"I feel like your celebrity is not about the fortune or the fame," she said at a previous event, as quoted by Hollywood Life. "But if you can't help anyone, then it's in vain – it's pointless."

She also revealed that volunteering has been a big aspect of her life both before and after her journey to fame.

"It is so important and so crucial," she said, according to the source. "It builds your character and gives you good traits."
