The Academy Awards bring Hollywood's elite to the Kodak Theatre, and even though there are numerous celebrities who look absolutely gorgeous in their designer gowns as they strut down the red carpet, there are always a few who stand out. This year, this definitely applies to Jennifer Lawrence, who made the night memorable in many ways.
According to People magazine, the "Silver Linings Playbook" star wowed in a Dior Haute Couture textured strapless dress, which billowed out dramatically, making her look like nothing short of a princess. She paired the lovely dress with a diamond studded necklace that she wore down her back and dazzling drop earrings, all by Chopard. She topped off the ensemble with a Roger Vivier clutch and her hair in an intricate updo.
Lawrence was not only applauded for her fashion choice, but she was also honored with Best Actress award, besting Naomi Watts, Jackie Weaver, Emmanuelle Riva, Quvenzhane Wallis and Jessica Chastain. While she went up to accept her award, she tripped and slipped on the steps. She kept her cool, however, and she even made a little joke at her own expense.
"Thank you!" Lawrence said after she made it to the podium. "You guys are just standing up 'cause you feel bad that I fell and that's really embarrassing, but thank you. This is nuts! Thank you to the Academy and thank you to the women this year, you were so magnificent. You were so inspiring and not just those of you in my category; and it's been so amazing getting to know you and you've been so nice and you've made this experience unforgettable."
Before the show began, however, the starlet wasn't worried about whether or not she would trip on her massive gown, she told Us Weekly.
"I am surprisingly comfortable," the 22-year-old actress told the news outlet. "I kind of feel like a high-maintenance pain in the ass because there is a 5-foot circumference around me. I didn't try any other dresses. When I put this one on, I knew."
Now that Lawrence has been honored with a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar, she can't wait to cuddle up on the couch with a bottle of wine, she shared with the media outlet. She should enjoy her time off – soon enough, she'll be in the public spotlight again as she promotes her next film, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," due out this November.
