New Mrs. Reynolds spotted with large ring

Paparazzi have been vying for the first pictures of newlyweds Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively after the two married in secret in early September. The cameras finally caught up to the Hollywood power couple in South Carolina, Us Weekly Magazine reports, where eyes were on the large rock on Lively's left hand.

A representative for jeweler Lorraine Schwartz told the magazine that Reynolds helped design the ring, which features a large pink oval diamond set on a rose gold band amid pave diamonds. Her wedding band completes the set. The magazine compared the engagement rings of Reynolds' two loves, Lively and ex-wife Scarlett Johansson, who used to sport a round-cut diamond on a yellow gold band.

British newspaper The Daily Mail estimates Lively's 12-carat ring costs approximately $2 million because of the stunning quality.

Clarity like that seen on the actress' diamond is one of the most important elements jewelers and shoppers look for in an engagement ring. According to The Diamond Buying Guide, most stones have flaws because of the pressure it takes to create a diamond. Most rocks have some inclusions within the stone or are blemished on the outside. As such, stones with fewer marks are worth more because they are so rare.
